“African problems can only be resolved by Africans”…
…in collaboration with like minded partner organisations.

Ethiopia has faced countless tragic misfortunes. I hope and believe that the current generation of Ethiopians have a huge opportunity to provide a better future for the next generation.
Hope for Ethiopia primarily lies with Ethiopians.

Attitudinal and Behavioural change is a major challenge
“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”
(Ancient Chinese Proverb)

We believe that change, can be achieved, by nurturing and mobilising SOPHOS ambassadors (whom we call change agents). We aim to create a critical mass of change agents and ethical entrepreneurs.

We equip change agents through unique leadership training,
to meet the challenges they will confront.

Our journey has started in the cradle of humanity and early Christianity in Africa… Ethiopia

My name is Abinet Birkneh, founder of SunLink Engineering PLC. I aimed to bring affordable solar lighting to rural communities. With training, mentorship, and a startup loan from SOPHOS AFRICA, my vision became a reality, and SunLink’s early success attracted respected partners.

My name is Rahel Maru. After joining the SOPHOS AFRICA internship program, I was placed at Berhan Bank, where I gained practical communication and teamwork skills. This experience led to my acceptance of a full-time position.

My name is Dawit Fedlu. Through the SOPHOS AFRICA paid internship program, I gained valuable work experience while covering my living expenses. Training in integrity, work ethics, and conflict resolution supported my growth, and I now hold a permanent position with a competitive salary.
Today we have trained over 2200 ambassadors committed to the principles and ethos of SOPHOS AFRICA.
Our programmes have successfully encouraged ethical entrepreneurship.
This is key element of our strategy to challenge business malpractice, based on ethnic, religious, and gender prejudices
